Broker Outpost Hacked

Somebody really doesn’t like mortgage brokers. If you logged into Broker Outpost this morning, here’s what you were greeted with.

Ouch. It appears they are back up and running. Some important advise. If you did log in, it’s possible that the hacker was collecting your username and password. If that password is not unique, it would be a prudent move go ahead and change it at all the sites where you use it. Most importantly, your email account.

And for the record, it wasn’t me. :p

Kinda creepy seeing that message this morning on BO.

I have a yahoo email with that same p/w. Changed it right away.

No way! Well the truth is they could have done major damage but they were nice enough to just leave a message…..seriously. I’m sure you have backups, but if they wanted to, they could have deleted the db as well, probably….. You should post on the steps you are taking / tweaks you are making to increase security… that would be an informative post…. if you google securing wp or the like there are lots of things you can do.

I consider things like this a gift, a healthy wakeup call… somebody could have gained access and then remained silent, simply extracting user data or the like… also, check all your templates to make sure there aren’t hidding links or the like that have been added…

So they also got brokeroutpost.com but they didn’t do damage over there, clearly they are not smart hackers. :) Where else did they hit, we should post a list…..

If you google vezir.04 you can see dozens / hundreds of hacked sites….. damn kids!

Trace, just to clarify, lenderama was not hacked. The message was on the Broker Outpost forum.

    Interesting…

I was using Broker Outpost just before I started blogging on Active Rain. Every now and then I’ll get a lead from someone who says they found me through Broker Outpost.

I sure would have hated to have logged on!

Wow. Broker outpost cracks me up. It’s still got people saying: “Great Borrower, SISA 640 95% LTV Good value…needs a 6.5% RATE HELP!”

I got one placement through there when an Argent rep didn’t call me back (they called her No Call Hall).
