This Kodak moment is brought to you by Polaroid

Reading that Polaroid film is going away brought back a few childhood memories. I thought my Mom’s Polaroid camera was the coolest device ever devised by man. I remember her yelling at me for burning through a whole cartridge of film by just taking pictures of stuff around the house. This pictures weren’t important, I was amazed at the process.

Today, I look at the Polaroid and wonder why it didn’t die years ago. However, if Polaroid is the Dodo, Kodak could best be described as the Bald Eagle. Now off the endangered species list, and flourishing. Kodak still sells film, but made a deliberate evolution into digital media.

Evolution happens. One of the focuses that we’ve been working on in building Brainious is how real estate agents and loan originators will harness the latest technology to work smarter. What was once entrenched technology, now looks very Polaroid, and we want to focus on how to get ahead of this curve.

For instance, look at Microsoft Windows. One only has to look at Microsoft’s web play to buy Yahoo! to see they know the writing’s on the wall for profitable software. Tonight on Brainious, I wrote about my latest experiment to use a recycled computer, and lot’s of free software to build a viable work station.

This is the sort thing you can expect to see more of at Brainious. We’re working to show you affordable technology solutions that will make you the bald eagles off this industry.

Polaroids are one of those generational things that when you are hanging out with somebody 10 years younger (in my case) and they don’t know what a polaroid is or have never owned a polaroid picture, it makes you say “huh?”. Sort of like the way they aren’t familiar with records, 8 tracks, Michael Jackson being normal at some point in time, life before the internet, life with a commodore 64, intellivision, collecovision, life before cd’s, Hall and Oates, Men at Work, “Gag me with a spoon”, Dallas…….etc……

Evolution and the right technology to integrate into our operations in something always on my mind. I’m a fan of don’t fix it if it ain’t broker but by all means evolve to create excitement and market share – school of thought.

I set aside the Twitter consideration and now Ed Rybczynski has me thinking about Gold Mail or something like it as a video imbed that comes with the e-mailed draft HUD. Would it enhance the experience or just make people crazy? That’s my test and I’m still thinking. ;)
